How to Properly Maintain Your Puretec G7 Hybrid Water Filtration System

Looking to properly maintain your Puretec G7 Hybrid water filtration system? Follow these steps to ensure your system is running smoothly and providing clean, safe water for your home. We recommend servicing your system at least every 12 months, depending on your water quality and usage. Don't forget to purchase a Puretec maintenance kit to make the process even easier!
  1. First, turn off the water supply to the system and release the pressure by opening a downstream tap or pressing one of the red pressure relief buttons.
  2. It's time to change the filter cartridges. Unscrew the filter housings by turning them from right to left using the included spanner. Dispose of the old cartridges and clean the bowls with Puretech housing sanitizer or detergent and warm water. Rinse thoroughly and check the o-rings for any damage. If necessary, replace the o-rings and apply a light coating of food-grade silicone lubricant.
  3. Remove the packaging from the new filter cartridges and insert them into the housing bowls, making sure they are properly seated over the spigot. Re-screw the housings, turning from left to right and ensuring a good seal. Tighten the bowl with the spanner, being careful not to over-tighten. Remember to record the cartridge model and install date for future reference.
  4. It's time to replace the UV lamp. Turn off the power, open the cover to the unit, and unplug the ballast power connector. Allow the unit to cool, then disconnect the lamp connector and carefully lift the white cap from the aluminium nut. Disconnect the lamp from the socket and remove it from the chamber.
  5. Check the quartz sleeve for cleanliness. Unscrew and remove the aluminium nut on the top of the chamber, and place a bucket underneath to catch any water that comes out. Remove the aluminium nut from the bottom of the stainless steel chamber, using your other hand to hold the bottom of the sleeve in place. Be careful not to lose the spring inside the sleeve as you remove the bottom o-ring and slide the sleeve through and out the top of the chamber. Remove the other o-ring from the sleeve and lubricate if necessary. Check for damage and replace the o-rings if needed. Clean the quartz sleeve with Puretech sleeve cleaner. If the glass is not clear or clean, you'll need to purchase and install a new replacement quartz sleeve. If you do not need to replace the sleeve, continue with the next steps.
  6. To reinstall the quartz sleeve, place an o-ring on the new or clean sleeve, leaving about an inch from the end. Carefully slide the sleeve into the top of the chamber and down through the bottom opening until the o-ring sits on top of the chamber. Place the bottom o-ring on the quartz sleeve and screw the bottom aluminium nut onto the chamber. Tap the top of the sleeve to ensure it is securely in place on the bottom aluminium nut. Drop the spring into the quartz sleeve and screw the top aluminium nut back onto the chamber.
  7. To install the new lamp, remove it from its packaging and connect the four pins to the socket in the white cap. Gently insert the lamp into the top of the chamber, connect the irving wire, and plug in the ballast power connector. Turn the power on.
  8. To reset the countdown timer, press and hold the silver button for 15 seconds until "reset" is displayed on the screen and you hear a single beep. The display will show 365 days and the green LED button will be lit. Close and lock the lid of the unit.
  9. Restore the water supply and check for any leaks. Turn on a downstream tap and let the water flow through the unit for a couple of minutes to flush out the system. If you notice any leaks, turn off the water supply and check all connections for tightness.
  10. Finally, test the water for chlorine levels using a test kit. The levels should be between 1.0 and 1.5 ppm. If the levels are not correct, adjust the dosage using the Puretech Chlorine Adjustment Calculator.
By following these steps and using a Puretec maintenance kit, you can ensure that your Puretec G7 Hybrid water filtration system is operating at its best and providing clean, safe water for your home. Don't forget to service your system regularly, at a minimum of every 12 months, depending on your water quality and usage. Proper maintenance is key to the longevity and effectiveness of your system.
